This month, one of the Crit groups I'm a member of, diiww  is doing a focus on poetry (of course... it's April) and I've been playing around with formal poetry. I have always been drawn to formal poetry but intimidated by rhyme. When I try to rhyme, it always sounds forced and contrived. I sound more like Dr Seuss than Tom Waits. So, I've been working on form poetry in forms that don't require rhyme and changing the ones that do to suit me. 

It's strange but, because of my playing around, I've written quite a number of poems recently that may turn out to be pretty decent.
