Today is Hardwired Humanity's official release!! Yay!

I'm pleased to announce that my short story collection, Hardwired Humanity is now available from Altered Dimensions Press!!

Standing on the razor edge between man and machine, where the defining lines blur until you cannot distinguish one from the other, Hardwired Humanity delves deep into the realm of artificial and replicated intelligences. Those machines that man may someday create in his own image, to suit his own desires, are not without their problems. What happens when those machines begin to deviate from their purpose, begin to discover what they are, and reconfigure our definitions of them?

Hardwired Humanity, six stories of the machines we are and those we create, with an introduction by author and editor, Edward McKeown.

Went to get the mail today and found a marvelous thing! My contributor copies of Peeks & Valleys came today. My poem, The Man I Never Knew is first in an impressive lineup. My favorite poem though happens to be not mine.  In Nanning, by Stephen Watkins is a very short but very moving poem. I may need to keep my eyes open for more of his stuffs.

I managed to ruin one painting (just trust me... was horrible...) but, for the first time picking up a brush in 5 years, first time touching oils in 8, it could have been even worse!! I did manage to do something else while I was doodling. It may be the best doodle I've done in just as long so maybe there is something to this urges thing.

Meet my Carraine people. This is a juvenile Male, no color yet. I'm working on it. Don't have the right pencils for this so will be doing it digitally I guess.

Carraine

But - he's not horrible :)

I just realized that it's March! My poem, Too Late for Ribbons is currently available at The Written Word!!

It's one of those 'bone' poems for me. Hits close to my bones in a way not all of my poetry does. Too bad she's not around to read it.

on the writing front - have been decent. I have two new rough drafts of short fiction, both flash. Both needing some expansion and detail but, I think, will both suit the markets that inspired them. (Hope may be a better word than think here). I also have a few other story sketches.

on the kid front - it's been great - with the Lion King and a cuddly baby :) can't ask for better than that!

on the crafting front, it's been very inspired. One of the stories I'm working on now could be best described as Steampunk and as I was thinking about it, mulling it over, rolling it around in my brain, working on gathering enough to make a pearl, I had a few great ideas for some steampunk inspired crafty things. I just need to get my hands on old watch, clock, and engine parts. Which, given my fatherinlaw, should not be hard to do. And you never know - these things may work out well enough to do something with. But, I'm not sayng any more until they're done. Piece by piece and I probably won't get a chance to work on them until the end of the month.

Goals for next week:

1. Second draft ~ Scavengers
2. 4 or 5 crits for DII
3. Second draft ~ Caged
4. 2 chapters Thosha.

Doable. If nothing else sparks my interest anyway. The first one NEEDS to get done. The market I'm looking at has a deadline and I'd like to make it.

2008 likes me so far. Not in the statistics are a few 'still outs' that have made it past the first round of readers... so there's more good news then indicated by numbers alone.

19 Submissions sent. 2 accepted, 3 rejected, 14 still out
Additional 2007 stats: 2 accepted, 2 rejected, 32 Still out.
2008 Overall: 19 submissions sent. 4 acceptances, 5 rejections, 46 submissions out.
